Vaccines & Boosters
Although COVID-19 remains common, when compared to 2020, individual infections are less likely to result in severe illness for most people in the United States. COVID-19 poses the highest risk for older adults, infants, and people with pre-existing medical conditions. Getting vaccinated now can help lower the risk of becoming infected with or dying from COVID-19. (CDC)
Bivalent booster shots are available for children 6 months and older
- February 2024: older adults now able to receive additional dose of updated COVID-19 vaccine
- CDC’s Bridge Access Program provides free COVID-19 vaccines to adults without health insurance and adults whose insurance does not cover all COVID-19 vaccine costs.

Transportation
- If you need transportation to a vaccination site, call the L.A. County Department of Public Health Vaccine Call Center at 1-833-540-0473 (open 7 days a week)

Testing & Treatment
- Free Rapid & PCR COVID Testing by Total Testing Solutions: dates and times vary. Free testing will be available by appointment only.
- L.A. County “Test to Treat” Program:
- If you have been exposed to COVID-19 and are at elevated risk for severe illness, you can get free same-day testing and free antiviral medication. Find current “Test to Treat” locations in LA County at: ph.lacounty.gov/covidmedicine
- Need additional help with COVID-19 testing? WhenToTest.org is an online, mobile-friendly tool that helps you make decisions about COVID-19 testing.

Mental Health Resources
- The L.A. County Department of Mental Health has published a list of resources ranging in various topics such as coping with stress during infectious disease outbreaks, losing a loved one, managing anxiety, understanding the mental and emotional aspects of COVID-19, etc.

If you have Medi-Cal, you can call the number on your membership card for mental health services. You can also call your local county mental health line. To find out what services are covered, call the Medi-Cal Managed Care and Mental Health Office of the Ombudsman at 888‑452‑8609. They are available Monday through Friday from 8am – 5pm. - If you feel like you are coping with your stress by drinking or taking drugs, you can get help from county substance use programs. You can also call the national treatment locator at 800‑662‑HELP.
- Older adults can find local services through the Department of Aging’s website, or by calling 800‑510‑2020.
Funeral Assistance Program
- FEMA is providing financial assistance for COVID-19 related funeral expenses incurred after January 20, 2020. For information on who is eligible, how to apply, and how to receive the funds, visit their website.
- FEMA will continue to provide funeral assistance until Sept. 30, 2025, to those who have lost loved ones due to this pandemic.

Renter Protections
- The City of Los Angeles Declaration of Local Emergency effective on March 4, 2020, terminated on February 1, 2023. The provisions apply to all residential rental units in the City of Los Angeles.

- The County’s COVID-19 Tenant Protections Resolution (“Resolution” – formerly the LA County Eviction Moratorium), which took effect March 4, 2020, provided certain protections to residential tenants, commercial tenants and mobilehome space renters affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Los Angeles County. The Resolution expired March 31, 2023.
